It was concerning that there was no reply - one should really refrain from engaging in such scenarios, especially with vishing being a prevalent issue these days. A proper caller ought to introduce themselves right away instead of just hanging around. At this point, it’s common knowledge that a brief pause before the line connects is quite a red flag and should raise alarm bells.

It's obviously a pre-recorded message masquerading as a genuine call. They were droning on about financial advice for those of us over fifty, but I spotted the ruse when they regurgitated the same opening line twice. Very dodgy indeed!
