On the 24th of August 2022, I had the misfortune of receiving three calls from the same number without a single message being left. The calls came from a number that was almost identical to one I’d been pestered by before-just slightly tweaked, mind you! In a fit of curiosity, I returned the call only to be greeted by a recorded voice saying, “The number you have dialled is no longer in service.” After countless attempts to block these bothersome calls, I ultimately found myself overwhelmed; my Bt block list reached its limit, and I had to unlist a previous nuisance to accommodate a fresh one. Now I lead a much quieter existence, relying on my answerphone. If a caller dares to leave a message, I’m more than happy to engage. Those pesky telemarketers tend to vanish as soon as my outgoing message begins! I always make it a point to use 1471 to keep track of the latest culprits, and I’ve amassed quite the collection. For anyone with an answerphone, I’d highly recommend giving it a go; it truly does work wonders. Best of luck to you all!

I've been inundated with calls from this number, which raised red flags about potential scams, so I decided to block it. Curiously, shortly after, another call from a number based in Manchester came through. I can’t fathom why they'd be connected, as I don’t know a soul in Dartford or Manchester. It’s all quite bothersome and unsolicited!

Got a call on my mobile from a number I didn’t recognise, so I ignored it since real people usually leave a voicemail. Curious, I dialled the number back from my landline and was met with an automated message saying the number’s been disconnected. Whenever scammers call, I like to ring them up and if they answer, I tell them I’m DI Jones from the Met’s serious fraud unit and that I’ve got a missed call from them - usually they just hang up straight away.
