AVOID AT ALL COSTS: I made the mistake of answering on my initial go (foolish of me), and it turned out to be a fraudulent call regarding my internet service being cut off. I just had yet another dodgy call, this time from a bloke with an Asian accent purporting to be from the Amazon Prime team. He claimed my subscription was up for renewal and insisted on confirming my payment details. Can you believe it? This is the fifth time in five days I've received a call like this! What's more, each time it's been from a different number! Absolutely infuriating!

A person saying they're from AMAZON just called me with a recorded message saying my AMAZON account would renew automatically on X date for £39.99. I pressed 1 like it told me to, then told the person on the line that I don’t have an AMAZON account. They sounded surprised and then hung up straight away.

The police 'action fraud' site recently shared that these crooks managed to scam £400,000 in just two months up to October. Blocking the numbers really doesn’t stop them. You should report any info to the police. Just search for 'action fraud', head to the 'police.uk' site, and check out the 'reporting' area. If you’ve had a call or text, report it as phishing, and if you’ve been scammed, report it as a crime. These dodgy blokes keep going because hardly anyone bothers to report them.
