Got a call from some bloke sounding like he’s straight out of a posh school, claiming he was from BT Openreach. I've just received a call from this number, and let me tell you, it’s a complete scam! They claimed to want to chat with the owner of the business, insisting that our line is classified as residential and that they need to rectify some supposed overcharging. I recently received a rather curious phone call from a charming-sounding gent claiming to be connected "with BT." He was keen to chat with the BT account holder, despite the fact that we don’t have an account with them. When I pressed him on it, he swiftly switched his story to "working with Openreach" and claimed that we had been placed on a “higher pricing structure.” It's amusing how he seemed to know this, given that Openreach primarily manages infrastructure and not specific phone package deals, and, as mentioned, we are not even BT customers. This was clearly an unsolicited sales attempt, but one has to wonder if there’s a more sinister motive at play in terms of gathering personal information. We're also registered with the Telephone Preference Service, so this is rather frustrating.
