Yet again, one of those scam calls. They rang up saying something like, "Good day, we're calling with free info from the government. Have you been in any accidents in the past 500 years? And what's the story with your PPI lately?" Absolutely ridiculous.

I just got a call from a woman at what sounded like a really busy call centre, she used this number. She asked for me but was convinced I lived somewhere totally different to where I actually do. I hadn’t a clue where the place was, never been near it. When I told her that, she was quite nice about it, said sorry, and hung up straight away.

Got a call from someone pretending to be from the Energy Advice Team, supposedly about solar panels. She started asking if I had loft insulation, which was strange since I don't have a loft at all. When I told her this, she insisted they had advisors nearby offering energy help. I told her my place is a listed building with a flat roof that doesn't face south, so solar wouldn’t work, and then she just ended the call. From what I’ve heard, these callers usually push loans to cover the solar panel cost, earning commission from the finance companies (often big banks). The catch is, the repayments on these loans end up being much higher than any possible savings on your electricity bills or profits from selling energy back to the grid. Definitely a dodgy setup.
