I reckon this is a total scam, no doubt about it. The whole thing just feels dodgy from the start. Definitely wouldn't trust it!

this number has been ringing me loads over the last few weeks. they keep saying my computer's infected with viruses. i told them straight up i don’t even have a computer and they just hung up. after that, i flat out said it's a scam, but still they called me at ridiculous times like 4am, 5am, and even 7am! honestly, i'm so fed up with it all i shouted at them this morning at 6.50am. the tps list does nothing against these scammers - i’m not keen on changing my number or going ex-directory, but i’m really starting to lose patience!

My elderly dad got a call from some Asian guy who kept pushing him to renew a computer licence. When my dad questioned him, the man said it would cost £101 to renew or £51 if he wanted to cancel. Then, weirdly, he claimed they’d already taken £101 from dad’s bank account. We're trying to sort it out now.

Got a call from some bloke speaking with a foreign accent, saying there was a problem with my computer updates. Asked him what he meant, but I had no clue at all. As soon as I said that, he just cut the call straight away!

Just got a call today around 12.15 pm BST from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming to be from TalkTalk. When I asked for my TalkTalk ID, he said he was from the network provider. The same old story about some issue with Windows updates. I told him I'd contact TalkTalk myself, then he just cut the call.

I got a call from this number saying my computer hadn’t installed some updates. When I questioned how they knew that, the person said my computer was connected to theirs over a network. I kept asking how that was possible and which company they worked for. After I kept pressing about the connection, they just suddenly ended the call!

Got a ring from this number saying my PC hadn’t updated properly. When I questioned how he even knew that, he said my computer was connected to his network. I kept asking for details - like how exactly that’d be possible and what company he was working for. Then, just as I pressed for more answers about the link between our computers, he abruptly ended the call!

Got a ring from this number once, some bloke named Peter with a weird accent. He was chatting about some computer issue, said I wasn’t the usual person and that the owner was away on holiday and I was just looking after the place.

There was some odd noise in the background then some bloke with a funny accent introduced himself as "Peter." I just replied with "nice for you" and ended the call. That Peter has been blocked ever since.

Got a call from this number earlier today. Some automated voice about renewing warranty for kitchen stuff, kept saying press 5 or 9 or something. Then it just hung up on me. Tried checking 1471 but nothing showed up, must be ex-directory or something. How on earth do they track me down? Can't BT do anything to block these calls?

We’re signed up to the Telephone Preference Service but still got a ring from this number tonight. Surely someone can track down who’s behind it and give them a bit of a telling off. David M Ross
