I reckon this is a total scam, no doubt about it. The whole thing just feels dodgy from the start. Definitely wouldn't trust it!

this number has been ringing me loads over the last few weeks. they keep saying my computer's infected with viruses. i told them straight up i don’t even have a computer and they just hung up. after that, i flat out said it's a scam, but still they called me at ridiculous times like 4am, 5am, and even 7am! honestly, i'm so fed up with it all i shouted at them this morning at 6.50am. the tps list does nothing against these scammers - i’m not keen on changing my number or going ex-directory, but i’m really starting to lose patience!

Got a call from someone asking questions about my laptop, sounded like a total scam.

My elderly dad got a call from some Asian guy who kept pushing him to renew a computer licence. When my dad questioned him, the man said it would cost £101 to renew or £51 if he wanted to cancel. Then, weirdly, he claimed they’d already taken £101 from dad’s bank account. We're trying to sort it out now.

Got a call from some bloke speaking with a foreign accent, saying there was a problem with my computer updates. Asked him what he meant, but I had no clue at all. As soon as I said that, he just cut the call straight away!

I got a call today at 12:15 BST from someone with an Asian accent, who claimed to be representing TalkTalk. When I requested my TalkTalk ID, he suddenly changed his story, saying he was actually from the TalkTalk network provider. He proceeded with the typical spiel about some alleged issues with Windows updates. I told him I’d verify the information with TalkTalk directly, and then he simply hung up on me.

I received a rather dubious phone call from this number, claiming that my computer was overdue for updates. When I pressed for details, the chap on the other end said he could see my device because it was connected to his network. Naturally, I enquired further about this connection and which company he represented. My questions seemed to put him on the back foot, and just like that, he cut the line. Quite the shady encounter, wouldn’t you agree?

Got a ring from this number saying my PC hadn’t updated properly. When I questioned how he even knew that, he said my computer was connected to his network. I kept asking for details - like how exactly that’d be possible and what company he was working for. Then, just as I pressed for more answers about the link between our computers, he abruptly ended the call!

Got a ring from this number once, some bloke named Peter with a weird accent. He was chatting about some computer issue, said I wasn’t the usual person and that the owner was away on holiday and I was just looking after the place.

I picked up the phone to a bit of muffled chatter, and then a chap with a bit of an accent introduced himself as “Peter.” I responded with a rather nonchalant, “Splendid for you,” before promptly hanging up. Safe to say, Peter has been added to my list of blocked numbers!

I received a call today from this number that identified itself as "ACD," claiming it was regarding the renewal of my kitchen appliances' warranty. They prompted me to press various buttons, but then the line just went dead, and when I rang back using 1471, there was nothing to show. I'm ex-directory, so how on earth do they get my details? It’s baffling why BT isn’t doing more to tackle these nuisances.

Even though we’re registered with the utterly pointless Telephone Preference Service, this number still rang us tonight. Surely there’s a way to track down and expose this caller? Best, David M Ross
