Here’s how you can easily report ALL scam texts, calls, emails, and other fraud attempts using the system set up by the police (NFIB). I was told about this when I raised the issue of constant scam calls with my MP. Scammers definitely don’t want people to know about this! If you don’t actually report these scams, nothing will change. Sending complaints to 7726, your phone operator, Ofcom, or the companies the scammers pretend to be won’t really help much because the info often doesn’t get forwarded to the police or fraud investigators at all.

Recently received a call from someone purporting to be from BT Openreach, supposedly investigating broadband speeds. After a lengthy discussion of about ten minutes regarding new router alternatives-which we already possess-the caller eventually hung up. The background noise suggested they were in a bustling call centre, likely in India, rather than emanating from Liberton Edinburgh, the area indicated by the number.

They mentioned that to mark my account as a no-smart-meter request, they would have to ask me some security questions. When I asked them for a formal letter to substantiate their claims, they flat-out refused, saying that sending letters wasn’t standard protocol.
