To put it plainly, he was rather impolite and confrontational when I pressed him for his identification details, especially after I declined to proceed with the conversation. The individual, who identified himself as 'Daniel', tried to persuade me that my computer was at risk of being hacked. When I expressed my doubts and suggested verifying his claims, he conveniently provided me with this number to reach him back. He insisted that he was calling from Microsoft’s office in Reading but intriguingly gave me an Edinburgh contact number. Curious, I checked Microsoft’s official security guidelines and found this statement: "Please be aware that Microsoft will never contact you uninvited regarding PC support or any technical issues. Any legitimate communication must come from you initiating it first." Interestingly, earlier that day, I had a different call from a woman who clearly wasn’t as adept. I peppered her with questions, and when I pressed her for her employer, a chap in the background said "Apple" in a hushed tone, to which she snapped, "Shut up!" before abruptly disconnecting.
