We got a call from this number, claiming to be from ITV or Channel 4, wanting to know what we usually watch on telly to help with some ratings research. They wanted my postcode, my name, and my email. After giving them some made-up info, they told me I couldn't take part in the survey but that someone would get back to me shortly. I just ended up blocking the number in the end, seemed a bit dodgy if you ask me!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Ipsos Mori doing a banking survey. After ringing my bank, turns out it was a total scam. Banks never ring out of the blue asking for survey details. They already had my home number and seemed to know which bank I use, plus that I've got a current account and a credit card. I refused to give any more details, but honestly, I wish I hadn’t even picked up the phone in the first place. Don't share any bank info with random callers!

I received a call from what they claimed was an IPSOS Mori survey. They inquired whether I smoked and if so, what my preferences were and the quantity I consumed. Following that, they delved into my alcohol intake-none for me, thank you! Then, the conversation shifted to my household earnings, prompting me to end the call out of sheer annoyance.

I was just worried about that one question they asked about if anyone else lived at my place, and then some follow-up about qualifications. They asked if anyone else was home... I tried ringing the number but the voicemail didn’t say who they were. I’ll give them another go on Monday. It’s Sunday today.

Got a call from 0131 500 0992 this morning around 11:14. My voicemail answered it automatically. The person on the other end said their name was Reskana Khanam and claimed to be contacting me on behalf of the government about some financial awareness feedback. The number that showed up on my call list was 0131 507 0018. I've gone ahead and blocked both numbers now.

A few days back, I received a call from the number 01315000882. The caller knew my name and claimed to be conducting a survey for an entity called Ipsess (I hope I've spelled that correctly) on behalf of the DWP regarding my pension. Before the woman, who didn’t seem to be a native speaker, could get into details, I interrupted her and expressed my disinterest. I mentioned that any genuine communications from the DWP should come in writing. Everything felt a bit off to me, so I politely ended the conversation. Haha!

Just a tip for others: it might be worth asking them for their contact details.

Hope this information proves useful!

I received a call from someone claiming to be with the bank, attempting to push a sale. Their English wasn't the best, and the whole conversation felt incredibly scripted. We decided to have a bit of fun, so we let them communicate with the cash machine instead since it was buzzing with noise. It took quite some time for them to cotton on to what was happening before they eventually hung up!

Received a rather irritating call attempting to masquerade as a survey but was clearly just a sales pitch in disguise.

I got a call from someone named Jamie who said he was with HMRC, doing a survey about COVID and how it had affected businesses. He mentioned a research code, CGRF, but I couldn't find anything about it on the official HMRC site. I’ve since reported this to HMRC’s research team. Jamie was quite pleasant, speaking with a gentle Scottish accent. I didn’t share any info, and I’d warn others not to give out personal or business details. If you’re unsure, it’s best to ring HMRC yourself using the numbers on their real website.

I received a phone call purporting to be from a market research firm known as Ipsos Mori. They weren’t trying to peddle any products or services, rather they were gathering information for a government survey. It appeared to be quite genuine.

Received a call around 8:30 in the evening from someone claiming to conduct a survey for nearby banks. They said I didn't have to answer everything and that my info would be wiped after 3 months. They asked for my age, employment status, PO number, and how frequently I browse the internet. That was it. They mentioned they were searching for individuals over 60 who spend less than 20 hours online weekly. I gave the number but didn’t share any extra details. Seemed pretty genuine to me.

I got a call from a bloke called Solomon who had a strong African accent, ringing me up from Aberdeen for Ipsos. He mentioned the Ipsos website on Wednesday 11th May 2022 - it was https://ipsos.uk/catibus, which looked legit when I checked it out. He gave me this number during the chat, though the one that showed on my phone was 01315614532. Seemed like a proper call, not a scam or anything.

Had a call from someone pretending to be from HMRC, total scam! They tried to scare me about some tax issues, but I knew straight away it was dodgy. Watch out everyone, these con artists are everywhere.

Got a call from this number last night, they kept claiming they were from the DWP or something like that. But legit, the DWP wouldn't ring you up that late, especially at 9pm, and that number's defo not theirs. I told them straight up they were full of it, and then they just hung up on me! 😂😂 Total scam, watch out!

On the 25th of January 2021, a woman called June claiming to be from IPSOS Mori. She asked me about different things like politics, tv shows, smoking habits, and drinking. I was told all my answers would stay private, and if I didn’t want to answer anything, that was fine. She mentioned my info would be deleted in three months. The call went on for about 40 to 45 minutes. June gave me a website to verify the call, but when I looked it up later, the site wasn’t real. She also shared a job reference and a contact number for the Market Research Society.

It’s really tough for legit survey firms and their staff these days because scammers have gotten so slick, you just can’t trust anyone ringing you out of the blue anymore. Best thing is not to give out any info at all - it’s not smart to do so and could lead to all sorts of hassle down the line. Stay cautious, everyone. I know it’s tricky to juggle.

Ipsos was all over the place in the last few questions of that survey. They asked for my email, even though earlier they said they already had it. Then they claimed they wouldn’t share any details with other companies, but right at the end, they asked if it was fine to do just that! It felt like a strange way of sneaking your info to someone else without being upfront about it. Made the whole thing super confusing and a bit shady.

Got a call from Ipsos MORI, they said it was a survey for Halifax about my bank accounts - like which ones I use, how satisfied I am, and if I'd suggest Halifax to others. It was all pretty generic stuff, nothing too personal. The lady on the phone also made it perfectly clear that I didn't have to carry on if I didn't want to, and I could end it whenever I liked.

Got a call from Moro poll about my thoughts on the local and general elections. The voice sounded kinda far away, which made me a bit suspicious, so I decided to do a quick check before answering. Seemed genuine though.

I reckon a lot of those calls claiming to be from government surveys or asking about your lifestyle are really just clever tricks from sales teams. Before you know it, they’ll be pitching stuff like double glazing, energy-saving plans, new windows, or even oven cleaning! Best to steer clear and not share any personal info.

I got a call from someone saying they were with Ipsos Mori, doing a survey for the government. I wasn’t totally sure it was legit, so I paused the conversation to check them out. Still not 100% certain, but I noticed quite a few others here mentioned the same organisation, so that’s something.

They claimed to be Ipsos Mori and led me through what appeared to be a genuine survey regarding cyber security. They didn't request any personal info from me. Still, I have no idea how they even got hold of my number. I'm always on guard with these things.
