I received a voicemail claiming to be from HMRC, instructing me to return the call to a specific direct line belonging to one Jacqueline Brown. She spoke in clear English, albeit it seemed like it wasn't her primary language. She assured me that it wasn't a scam and even suggested getting in touch with my solicitor if I chose not to call her back. The message concluded with a friendly 'Take care!' which struck me as rather peculiar.

Got a call from an automated voice saying it was hmrc. I'd read before that these are scams. If you call back, they try to get your bank info, so be careful!

Got a voicemail warning me to call back straight away or have a lawyer get in touch, or else legal trouble’s coming my way. So, I rang them up from a withheld number, and they actually picked up with a “Good afternoon, HMRC, how can I assist you?” Bloody cheeky lot!
