So this guy rings up saying he’s with some energy saving firm and even used my first name, which was a bit creepy. His voice seemed kinda robotic too. After he gave his spiel, the call just went dead and the phone switched off within about half a minute. I never deal with anyone who calls me out of the blue like that or comes knocking at the door.

Got a call around tea time on 30/01/2023 about some confusing energy deal nonsense. When we told them we weren’t interested, the caller tried to act all clever, saying “thanks for your time and for being so polite, have a lovely evening.” Honestly, if someone says no to a call about something they didn’t ask for, just accept it and hang up. It’s not surprising that people politely decline these kinds of calls and it’s better to just end it there.

When I raised the issue of all the scam calls I keep getting with my MP, they directed me to this. Scammers definitely don’t want people to know about this reporting route. If you don’t report these scams, don’t be surprised if nothing ever changes. Sure, you can report to 7726, your telco, Ofcom, or the company the scammers pretend to be, but often that info doesn’t get passed on to the police for an actual criminal probe.

In my experience, when the phone cuts off after about 4 or 5 rings, it’s typically a telemarketer on the line.
