I got a call from this number today (26th May 2018), supposedly from Domestic & General about some insurance offer. They told me I was entitled to a big discount but needed to check a few details first. The lady on the phone, who didn’t speak very good English, asked me to confirm my postcode. When I asked her what postcode she had, she kept dodging the question. In the end, I just ended the call. No doubt it was a scam.

Watch out for those voice cloning tricksters! Chatting with these fake D&G callers might really backfire on you. Scammers using AI to record your voice during calls is pretty scary stuff. Over the last few days, there have been quite a few posts here explaining this type of scam, ways to steer clear, and how to report it properly to the police and OfCom. These official channels were set up by the previous government to track and tackle these issues. If this number's still up and running, it just shows not enough folks have reported it yet.

Saying more than just a few words to these scammers, especially with this AI tech they’re using, is a bad idea. Heard it’s even available as a free app now! Make sure to have a word with everyone you know so they don’t fall for it.

Some bloke kept insisting I’d got insurance through Domestic & General for all my kitchen stuff, like my fridge, cooker and washing machine - which I definitely don’t. I’m always up to date with my bills or whatever, so it was total rubbish. He got really worked up, saying I wasn’t hearing him properly and kept pushing that I was covered. I told him straight I wasn’t and then just ended the call. Proper annoying! 😠😠😠

Got a call from someone claiming to be DEGs domestic appliance insurance. The bloke sounded really rude and was pushing me for my personal info to renew an insurance policy I don’t even have with them. When I refused to give my name, he got proper annoyed. I thought if they really had me insured, they’d already have my details? Definitely dodgy, so I’ve blocked their number now. Definitely not the real DEG.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Domestic & General. They asked if the lady of the house was available and told me I supposedly had a direct debit set up with them. Then, they tried to find out my name. When I tried to end the call, the bloke started shouting "Don't hang up!" like mad. Pretty obvious scam if you ask me.

A bloke rang me, said he was William from Domestic & General or summat like that. He wanted to chat to the “lady of the house” and said my appliance cover, which is only for one item mind, could be cheaper now. He reckoned if I gave him all my details over the phone, he’d send me a letter about it. I told him they must already have my info since he called saying he was from the company that looks after my stuff, yet he didn’t even know my name. Bit dodgy if you ask me.
