Upon questioning her motives for working with a potentially unscrupulous outfit, she fell silent and didn’t hang up, prompting me to end the conversation myself. I’m currently registered with the utterly ineffective Telephone Preference Service. It’s quite alarming, especially during an energy crisis, when individuals may be tempted to fork out cash for so-called “enhanced” insulation.

I've had a right nuisance of a phone pest named Jo who's rung me no fewer than eight times over the past three days, all in a bid to arrange an appointment for someone to come and have a gander at my loft insulation. Each time, I’ve requested that they take my number off their autodialler, but it seems like my words have fallen on deaf ears, as the calls just keep coming. I must confess, I've taken to keeping her on the line in hopes of putting a spanner in the works for these relentless calls to others. Seriously, Jo, just let it go already!

I received a call from a rather persistent woman today who had a very recognisable voice. She was keen on extracting details regarding our loft insulation. The moment I mentioned that our loft is fully boarded and insulated, she abruptly cut the conversation short. The call claimed to be from something called the energy hub. When I asked for more details, the person kept vague, saying they represent several firms and wanted to arrange a free visit to check our insulation. I kept pressing for who exactly they were and who requested the call, but the caller just got annoyed. After I repeated my questions again, she just ended the call. If they’re a genuine business and not some sort of con, it’s a poor reflection - they wouldn’t give clear answers or really explain anything. Very off-putting experience.
