Loads of folks on here are saying different things about how to stop scam calls. From my experience, blocking doesn’t seem to cut down the amount of scam texts or calls I get. I’ve read through the useful tips on this thread and I’m planning to take action by reporting every scam call I receive to annoy those scammers a bit.

They’ve been ringing me nonstop all week. My phone’s set to block it as it looks like a scam.

Got a missed call but no voicemail. A proper company would always leave their info and why they’re calling. Definitely feels like a scam. Blocked the number right away. Tried calling back but there was loads of noise in the background. Then some bloke kept saying hello over and over before the line just went dead. I hung up. Legit businesses always say their company name, who’s speaking, and how they can assist you. These lot have zero manners or customer service. Total scammers.

If everyone who receives these annoying calls and messages actually takes action, we could make a real difference. It’s quite likely these scams will be cut down massively, maybe even before the next General Election. But for that to happen, every single scam call or text must be reported by everyone who gets them. Also, it’s important that MPs hear from lots of their voters about this issue.

Got a call from a withheld number, so I called back. Could hear what sounded like a call centre in the background. When I asked what they wanted, they just hung up. Seems fishy, so I’ve blocked the number now.

Really sketchy call, some woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from the government. Got a call from someone claiming to be National Health England, but the number started with an Edinburgh code. The person had an Indian accent. I called the number back and it seemed real. Shouldn't they be getting arrested? What are the police doing about it?

Got two calls in as many days, each claiming to be from different places - one said it was the Citizens Advice Bureau! The other bloke I couldn’t make out at all, his English was shocking. If you want to scam people, at least try to speak proper English! Told them I’m signed up with the TPS and they shouldn’t be ringing me, then he just hung up. Blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from a Chinese woman with a thick accent who said she was calling from some health insurance firm. Couldn’t really follow her properly. She wanted to know if I had life insurance. I do, but when she asked which provider, I didn’t want to say. After that, she just ended the call.
