Got a call from some Asian lady named Emma, said something about reducing payments on my home appliances cover. Complete nonsense! She shouldn’t have even been able to ring me - I’m on the TPS list and my number’s ex-directory. She hung up straight away when I called her out. Proper fed up with having to report these fraudsters and block their numbers. This has got to be stopped!!

Some bloke called me claiming he was from Eon, saying I had an unpaid bill with them. I told him he's not my supplier, but he kept insisting he was. So, I asked him for my name and account number. After what sounded like him checking on Companies House, he phoned back with my name. I just told him to bugger off 'cause he sounded like a total scammer.

I've experienced something similar, a chap of Asian descent called, claiming to be with British Gas, saying he was handling billing or some such. He mentioned an error on our account and insisted he needed some details to sort it out. What unnerved me was how he already had our supply number, address, and phone number! Quite suspicious, really. Considering we've been with British Gas for over a year, all our invoices are generated via our smart meter, so I find it hard to believe that there's any sort of hiccup in our billing! I really hope if anyone else receives a similar call, they'll take a moment to search the number online and come across these warnings.

I received a call from a chap who sounded Asian, claiming there was a mix-up with my latest meter reading due to an incorrect postcode entered by the reader. He started requesting various details from my last bill, and he seemed to have my meter and supply numbers, which made him sound quite credible. However, when he began digging for more specifics, I became wary and questioned him on why he needed that information if he already had access to it. Got a call from someone saying she was from my energy company. She sounded legit since she knew loads about my bills and everything. We run a business and have been getting these so-called “meter reading errors” calls quite a bit. When I looked into it more, it turns out they’re really risky. They get your meter number from your bill and then can cut and paste bits of your call recordings to make it sound like you agreed to switch suppliers - and then they con you after that. They tend to ask loads of yes/no questions, which they can twist around to fit their dodgy scheme. BEWARE, do NOT hand over your meter ID to them!

I received a call from a gentleman of Asian descent who claimed to be representing E-on regarding the meter readings I submitted the previous week. He requested that I retrieve my invoice and provide him with my account number. However, when I countered his assertion by asking him to disclose my account number if he was indeed E-on, he became quite irate. I then requested to speak with his manager, and after a brief hold, he returned, feigning to be a different person, asserting that he was from the meter reading department. Given that his call originated from an Edinburgh number while I reside down south, I cheekily suggested that he should come over to read the meters himself if he was sceptical. At that point, he abruptly ended the call.

Received a call from someone acting like they were a supplier, but they started asking for all kinda personal info that didn’t seem right. Definitely felt like they were fishing for things they shouldn’t have access to. Sounded very dodgy to me.

Been getting calls these past couple days, they say they're from our energy company and that there's something wrong with our meter. Got three calls about it so far.

somebody rang up saying they were from engie, saying there was a problem with my bill and that the meter reading was mixed up with someone else’s. they asked me to confirm info about my contract and even my sse details. i nearly fell for it but got suspicious when they asked when my meter was last checked. watch out for this one!

Apparently, someone rang pretending they were from our electricity company, trying to go over the details of our bill and all that. Felt pretty dodgy to me.

A woman rang me three times within a few mins saying she was from ‘head office’ and that my system had crashed. She kept asking me to confirm my account details, claiming to be with British Gas. Felt a bit dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Octopus about an unpaid bill and asked to talk to the manager. We don't even use Octopus as our energy provider, plus he didn’t know who the account holder was. Definitely felt like a scam to me.
