Got a call from some Asian lady named Emma, said something about reducing payments on my home appliances cover. Complete nonsense! She shouldn’t have even been able to ring me - I’m on the TPS list and my number’s ex-directory. She hung up straight away when I called her out. Proper fed up with having to report these fraudsters and block their numbers. This has got to be stopped!!

Some bloke called me claiming he was from Eon, saying I had an unpaid bill with them. I told him he's not my supplier, but he kept insisting he was. So, I asked him for my name and account number. After what sounded like him checking on Companies House, he phoned back with my name. I just told him to bugger off 'cause he sounded like a total scammer.

Like others have said, I got a call from an Asian bloke claiming to be from British Gas, saying there was a mistake on my bill and they needed details to fix it. What really creeped me out is that they already had my supply number, address and phone number - which seemed off. We’ve been with British Gas for more than a year now, have a smart meter, and all bills are generated automatically, so it felt like a scam to me. Fingers crossed if anyone else gets this call, they’ll look up the number online and find these warnings.

Got a call from a bloke, sounded Asian, saying there’d been a mistake with my last meter read - the guy who did it apparently put in the wrong postcode. He asked me loads of stuff from my last bill, but he did know my meter number and supply details, so i thought it could be real. Then he began asking for more details from the invoice and that’s when i got a bit iffy, asked why he didn’t have the info already and he said it was lost because of some data overwrite or something. Looked up the number online and just ended the call!

Somebody called claiming to be from EON’s meter team, saying there were problems with my bill and they needed to check my details. They seemed to know loads, like my address, part of my meter number, and the date I started the contract. It sounded legit at first, but I got really suspicious when they asked for info they should already have. I just hung up and rang EON myself. Turns out, it was a scam - they wanted to steal my info to pretend to be me and mess with my account or switch providers. Total scam alert!

This number 01313670219 kept ringing me, claiming to be EDF, whom we use for our electricity. I told the caller to get in touch with our accounts department but they’re not available until the next day. Later on, they rang back asking for a meter reading! But we got smart meters, so there’s no need to provide readings. Feels like a scam to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be British Gas which felt off. Midway through the chat, they started asking loads of personal info, so I just ended the call. Since then, they've tried ringing me back quite a few times. I decided to ring up British Gas myself to check, and they mentioned it might be a broker trying to switch our supplier without us knowing. They've added a warning to our account and assured me no changes will be made without our okay.

Got a call from someone claiming to be British Gas, but I worked out it was a scam when they started asking for personal details. I ended the call then. They've tried ringing a few times since. I contacted British Gas myself to report it, and they told me it might be a broker trying to switch our service without us knowing. They've now added a note to our account so nothing can be changed unless we give the go-ahead.

Got a call from someone saying she was from my energy company. She sounded legit since she knew loads about my bills and everything. Said there’d been a postcode mistake - just one letter off or something like that. After hanging up, it didn’t sit right so I rang EDF myself. They told me it had nothing to do with them. I’m proper annoyed I fell for it so quick. Now I’m stressing what they might do with the info I gave.

We run a business and have been getting these so-called “meter reading errors” calls quite a bit. When I looked into it more, it turns out they’re really risky. They get your meter number from your bill and then can cut and paste bits of your call recordings to make it sound like you agreed to switch suppliers - and then they con you after that. They tend to ask loads of yes/no questions, which they can twist around to fit their dodgy scheme. BEWARE, do NOT hand over your meter ID to them!

This feels like a total scam! Got a call from a woman with a foreign accent saying she was from Eon, but then also mentioned British Gas, Opus, SSE and EDF like she was representing them all. She said their meter reader had made a mistake with my readings and wanted me to check a bill and read out my supply number plus other details. I got a call about my electricity bill from someone claiming to be with British Gas. They said there was an issue with my bill and asked me for my meter number because apparently my postcode "wasn't working". When I asked if they had my account number, they just said it began with a 60 or something, which I know isn't right. Pretty obvious it was a scam. Somebody called saying they were with Scottish Power wanting a meter reading. When I asked what reading they thought we had, their numbers were totally off, even though we've got a recent bill right here from Scottish Power. Ended up just hanging up. The guy sounded quite convincing, had an Indian or Pakistani accent.

Had a call from an Indian call centre claiming to be SSE, saying there's a "fault" on our line. Total nonsense if yer ask me. We got a nearly identical call last year from a different number, and surprise, surprise, our bills were spot on. Don’t trust them or hand over any info!

Got a ring today from 01313670219, some call centre bloke saying there might be issues with my Opus Energy bill unless I verified some details. Thing is, all that info’s right there on my latest invoice, so if he was legit, he’d already have had it. I didn’t end up sharing anything. The guy sounded quite pushy and had a bit of an Asian accent, kept pushing till he finally gave up and hung up when he saw I wasn’t going to budge. Heads up to everyone, they do use real contact names, though not the account holder, and they come across pretty believable.

Received a call from someone acting like they were a supplier, but they started asking for all kinda personal info that didn’t seem right. Definitely felt like they were fishing for things they shouldn’t have access to. Sounded very dodgy to me.

Been getting calls these past couple days, they say they're from our energy company and that there's something wrong with our meter. Got three calls about it so far.

Apparently, someone rang pretending they were from our electricity company, trying to go over the details of our bill and all that. Felt pretty dodgy to me.

A woman rang me three times within a few mins saying she was from ‘head office’ and that my system had crashed. She kept asking me to confirm my account details, claiming to be with British Gas. Felt a bit dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Octopus about an unpaid bill and asked to talk to the manager. We don't even use Octopus as our energy provider, plus he didn’t know who the account holder was. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

Got a call from a guy claiming to be my energy provider, asking for my contract and invoice info. He told me the contract ended today. Felt a bit off, to be honest.

They've rung me loads of times, each time claiming to be from a different energy company. Every call they ask for my invoice info, saying I need to provide it to stop any legal action. Pretty suspicious if you ask me.

This number kept phoning me loads, saying they were from our electricity company and wanted to get some info.
