Next, he wanted me to get my bank statement, saying Energy UK was planning to credit me £200. I've always paid my bills by direct debit and never missed one, so I was suspicious. I kept him hanging for about half an hour, watching telly, and every ten minutes he'd check if I was still there. I kept saying I was looking but I don’t actually receive bank statements. When I picked up again, he asked if I could see the six digits on the statement and wanted the last two. I told him why on earth would I give my bank info to someone who just rang me out of the blue? He said he didn't want my account number, just my sort code, and questioned how else he'd send the £200, since he said the £40 was already sent. Then he got rude and started shouting at me, saying he wasn’t a stranger, he was from Energy UK. I told him to speak to his supervisor about his attitude and he hung up abruptly.
