I reckon it must have been one of those automated calling systems, you know, a robo-caller, just testing whether my number is in use or not. The incessant ringing was maddening, and every time I picked up, they would just disconnect.

Loads of times I pick up and there’s just silence for a bit, then the call suddenly ends. It seems like they’re checking to find out if my number’s actually working or not. Proper annoying!
