I attempted to return their call, but there was no response. Similar to numerous others, I had received a call from someone claiming to be from Windows, concerning some supposed hardware problems. They were exceedingly pushy, trying to persuade me to grant them access to my computer. I simply hung up!

I received a call from an Edinburgh number. When I picked up, a bloke identified himself as from Windows, claiming my computer had been sending error reports recently. He insisted that, since I was on their system, he needed to delve into my computer to rectify the supposed issues. I passed the phone to my husband, who quickly sussed out that we were being conned and that our bank account had already taken a hit. The caller, who went by the name Mark Fernandez and had an ID of WT0206, was adamant that we’d unknowingly purchased something that granted an outsider access to our account. Strangely, he refused to divulge who was behind this scam. When my husband didn't play ball, he started hurling threats about legal repercussions and mentioned escalating the matter to his legal unit. He abruptly ended the call once we flat-out refused to log into our computer while he was still on the line.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent claiming there was an issue with Microsoft. I played along and told him I couldn’t get the internet to work on my Kenwood Chef. He just hung up straight away. Sometimes you have to outsmart these scammers!

I got a call from someone saying my windows PC had issues. I played along for some time, listening to their "fix" instructions. But then I mentioned I’m on an iMac and use a different keyboard. The bloke quickly changed his story and then just hung up on me.

Got called by them like 7 times just today. I’m tempted to give them a piece of my mind but if you pick up, you’re basically letting them know your number’s real. So, best not to answer at all. Also, I’m sure Microsoft wouldn’t ring you up directly about any windows issues, even if your copy wasn’t legit! Usually, you’d get some kind of official letter from their lawyers first. And FYI, the copies of Windows I use came straight from the shops when I bought my computers!

I got a call from a guy with an Asian accent saying my windows laptop was messed up and needed fixing. I decided to humour him for a bit. He told me to switch on my laptop and hit control + R, asked me what popped up in a little box, then told me to type some random letters and numbers. When I started asking him what the hell he was up to, he got all annoyed and kept saying I was wasting his time. Pretty clear it was a total scam, haha.

The caller claimed to be from Microsoft, with a thick Indian or Pakistani accent, telling me my email was hacked and he needed to check my computer. Thing is, I was actually shopping in Morrison's at that exact moment. It's clear it was some sort of scam. Owner’s listed as ‘gh gbcarrier: (c&w)’, if that helps. Just beware if you get a call like this.
