I got a call saying there was some accident involving me, which is total rubbish. When I asked where they got my contact from, they just cut me off straight away!

The easiest way I've found to shake them off is to say you believed the accident wasn’t your fault, you had no insurance, and since it wasn’t your car, you just left without stopping. They usually lose interest pretty quick after that. Another trick I tried was passing the phone to my 4-year-old - that definitely changes the mood fast!

It definitely came across as a call centre. When I asked where they found our number, they just hung up on me.
