Got a call from a number starting 0131, I’m based in Edinburgh. The caller kept asking about life insurance and somehow already had my phone and address details. When I asked them which company they were from and their address, they just wouldn’t say and ended the call abruptly - happened more than once. This number has been ringing me non-stop. At first, I just let it ring out cause I didn’t know the number. But then it kept coming, so I thought maybe it was something important and picked up a couple of times. Nobody said anything, but I could hear some noises in the background, so figured it was probably some kind of telemarketer. Next time they rang, I answered again and the person asked for me by name. I played along and said it wasn’t me, then asked if they wanted to leave a message. They said yes, started talking, then cut off mid-sentence and hung up. My partner got calls from the same number and he wasn’t having it - told them off pretty harshly and told them to stop calling. They’ve phoned me about four times recently. The daft person was convinced that Edinburgh was Scotland’s capital, not Glasgow. The ‘accident’ supposedly took place in Glasgow, where I actually live, but they couldn’t even specify the area. Complete waste of time, these muppets can’t even keep their scam story straight. They claimed they’d recovered more than £1900. Pathetic.

Some bloke called me saying someone had hit my car from behind. I was like, how do you know that? Cos it defo didn't happen. He claimed it was all on some national insurance register and I could get £3000 compensation. I just went "oh, okay" and then he cut me off straight away. Talked super fast and it was all a bit daft, didn't really add up. Probably meant to throw people off. Weirdly, he did know my name though.

He said he was from ambassador legal and even knew an old address of mine. I played along for a bit, stringing him on for about five minutes for a laugh.
