Got a call from this number saying it's from Edinburgh Sheriff Court about jury duty I’m supposed to attend soon. Thought I'd better mention it, since ignoring it might land you in trouble with fines, apparently up to £1000 if you don’t show up, unless the court has specifically excused you. Definitely worth taking seriously.

0131 370 6676 keeps ringing me non stop, and loads of other calls from the same 0131 area code as well. I've blocked about 10 different numbers already, but they just keep switching to new ones with that 0131 prefix. Most of the time the call never even goes through properly, but they just wont give up calling me all day and night. It's so annoying!

When I looked up this number, it showed it was linked to Edinburgh Sheriff Court. The Justice of the Peace Court’s homepage warns that some people have gotten calls claiming to be from the court about unpaid fees. These calls aren’t actually from Edinburgh Sheriff Court though - it’s a scam, so best to just ignore them. The SCTS never ring people up threatening them over National Insurance, fines, or debts. Only get in touch with the court if you’ve got an ongoing case or something to sort out. If you think you’re dealing with a fraud, the police are the proper people to contact.
