I had two phone calls today, and rather than verifying my identity, they simply insisted that I log into my online account. Not a chance!

Today I had a couple of phone calls from this number, and the person on the other end, who had an Indian accent, claimed there were issues with my BT Internet account. They seemed to be waiting for me to confirm my name, which they then mispronounced, obviously having not caught it right. I'm pretty certain it's a scam!

I recently had an unexpected phone call from the number mentioned above, with the caller claiming to be a representative from BT. The individual, who spoke with either an Indian or Southeast Asian accent, insisted that my internet connection had been compromised. I promptly clarified that there was no internet associated with the number they had dialled, to which they abruptly hung up. I was able to trace the number back through BT's 1471 service. Interestingly, the area code 01309 is registered to Forres, which is way up in the northern reaches of Scotland. Two additional points raise my eyebrows: firstly, the caller was aware of my full name, and secondly, a few months back, I had a conversation with BT's customer service team in India regarding a discount on my landline, as I have no internet connection at all.
