Just got a call from 01305 242106, some bloke claiming to be from "The Maintenance Team". When I asked what the call was about, he said it was about my Satellite TV, which I don’t even have. Then I asked which TV provider he was with and all he said was "the Maintenance Team" again. I pressed for the name of the provider and he just cut off. Definitely seems suspicious to me. Call came through on my mobile in Liverpool but I actually live in Manchester.

Just like a few others have mentioned, I got a call from a well-spoken lady with good English who said since I hadn’t made any claims on my Sky gear for the last three years, she could offer me cheaper insurance. She claimed I was paying £124 a year and could get three years for around £150. I told her I’d actually renewed my insurance with my usual provider last week, and it was nowhere near that price. I said I was happy with my current plan and ended the call. I guess some folks might get fooled by the posh accent, but calling me “luv” and “darling” really put me off.

Just like others mentioned, the person said they were from the Sky satellite repair service - but I got suspicious straight away since I’ve not had any cover for ages, so how come they think I made a claim? A few years back I had a similar scam call. They usually target people who actually have cover, then when they offer to lower the fee, they ask for your card info to "update" the payment, even though it’s normally paid by direct debit and they should be able to sort it without needing your card details.

They said they were from a satellite maintenance firm. They tried to sell me discounted insurance because I supposedly hadn’t made any claims. I explained I’d just contact the provider directly if anything went wrong, as they’d fix it without charge. Still, they kept pushing until I had to say I wasn’t interested.

Just a heads up to anyone who gets a call from this number. On the 28th of July, I was told I could get a discount on all my Sky boxes. Foolishly, I gave them my card details. The woman on the phone mentioned her manager would call back to confirm a three-year contract, but I’m still waiting. Then, yesterday I noticed £150 had been taken from my bank on the same day as the call. So, if anyone else hears from this company, please watch out - it really seems dodgy. If they don’t think it’s a problem, they should get in touch with me before 6pm today.

These days, we usually just let unknown numbers go straight to voicemail, as it's become quite risky to pick up. So, I chose not to answer because I didn't know the number, and honestly, I think that's the safest approach now.

Some bloke rings me up saying my satellite dish needs an upgrade, like we’ve got Sky or something - we haven’t had it in ages! The guy was all like, “Oh, we can sort that out for you,” so I just replied with a sarcastic “Yeah, right” and hung up. What a daft lad.

Got a call from a bloke claiming to be from Sky, telling me I hadn’t made any claims for a year so I could get my equipment for half price. He spoke super fast and threw lots of numbers at me, trying to confuse me. Then he asked to confirm the name on my direct debit. I refused to give anything, even though he already knew my name, address and postcode, which made it sound legit. I’m 71 and my kids have warned me about these things, so I wasn’t falling for it. Don’t let yourself be tricked!

Got a call from a bloke who sounded pretty convincing, claiming to be from Sky's engineering team. He kept saying, "I'm with the Sky engineers," so I asked him straight up, "which company did you say again?" and he just repeated, "Sky engineers." After a bit more back and forth, I finally asked for the actual company name, which I hadn't caught first time. Then he started going on about lowering my policy. I was like, which policy exactly? Told him I don't have any policy with them, but he was dead sure I did. I kept saying No, we don't!
