Got a call from someone with an Indian accent, saying I'd been involved in tax fraud, then asking if I had a decent lawyer. Definitely just a scam, don’t fall for it.

Beware of a total con! I got called by someone pretending to be Harry Wilson from HMRC (spoke with an Indian accent). They gave a fake badge number HM56224 and said I've got three tax fraud charges against me, threatening to freeze my bank accounts and all that if I don’t pay £3626. Complete rubbish!

Got a call yesterday from 0130386287, some recorded voice claiming to be from HMRC. It told me to urgently call an 0203 number about a tax fraud investigation. Sounded dodgy to me.

Today, I got a call from 01303 862827, where the person claimed I had a tax case against me for underpayment over several years. However, they didn’t ask for my NI number, email, or even my address. The caller spoke with an Indian accent. Felt a bit off to me.

They just keep ringing and then hanging up straight away.

My elderly mum and dad got a call claiming to be from HMRC saying they have a legal case against them and must ring a certain number. Absolute scoundrels!

My elderly folks got a call today, 25th Feb, from people claiming they’d done fraud and that the police were on their way. They spoke with Indian accents but said they were in the UK. It’s not really scary for me, but I’m gonna inform the cops and do some digging myself. Those scammers better watch out if I track them down. I’m really hoping that now Brexit has happened, there’ll be tougher action against these foreign scammers. Anyway, don’t panic, just report it to the police and your phone provider.

22nd Feb 2019. I got a call on my landline a bit ago from a bloke who sounded like one of those dodgy recorded messages. He was telling me I was involved in some fraud and money laundering thing. The number showed up as 01303862827. After reading what others have said here, looks like just another nasty trick by some lowlife trying to scare honest folks.

Got a call from a lady speaking with an Indian accent, trying to sell me an extended warranty for my TV. I cut her off and told her to stop bothering me before hanging up. Pretty sure the number was spoofed.

I just got the worst phone call ever. The person claimed to be from HMRC, telling me I was being arrested for fraud from way back in 2012. They said it was a courtesy call at first, then handed me over to a ‘supervisor’ and kept up the act for nearly 20 minutes. I was totally panicking, thinking it was real. They said I had to either pay £2600 or face arrest. That’s when I realised it was all fake. The callers were Indian, I think. Such a horrible half hour, can’t believe people do this sort of thing.

Got a landline call from 013032827 earlier today at around 10.58am. I dialled 1471 after hanging up to see who it was, then checked the number online.

I didn’t get a voicemail or anything, but since I’ve seen loads of people looking up that number, I’ve gone ahead and blocked it now.

Got a call from a bloke with a thick accent, seemed Indian or something, asking for me. I told him I wasn’t the person he wanted and he just ended the call straight away. Now whenever someone with an unusual accent rings asking for me, I just say “no, not me” and they usually hang up quick. A few times they’ve asked if I’m a relative, and when I say no to that too, they drop the line.

Got a really faint call, sounded like it was from abroad, and the bloke on the line had a strong Indian accent. Didn’t bother to say his name or what company he was from, just jumped straight in with "Just letting you know, your TV warranty price has been reduced." Total rubbish - my telly's way too old to have any warranty left. Felt like a scam, trying to get money or my bank info. I didn’t answer back with my number and checked the number on 1471, but it came up as unknown. Classic scammer move. Best to just hang up immediately!
