5 yearsThis morning, at around 9 o'clock, a call came through from 01303 211921, claiming I had made a purchase of £399 on Amazon. They warned me that the amount would be taken from my bank account, and if I hadn't done so, I needed to press 1 to speak with someone. Naturally, I haven't ordered anything from Amazon! By midday, I decided to ring the number back to request my removal from their so-called 'list'. The gentleman on the other end insisted that there was no such list. I explained that someone was misusing his number to impersonate Amazon. He mentioned that he doesn't actually use the landline, preferring his mobile. This just confirms my suspicions-I’ve encountered similar scams before where fraudsters somehow manage to hijack someone’s landline to carry out their trickery.
