Got a call on my Glasgow landline earlier today but I didn’t pick up. Jotted down the number and it didn’t ring any bells. Not many folks have that number, so I’m wondering how they even got hold of it. Lucky I didn’t answer really. Most of the calls I get during work hours on weekdays end up being either scammers or salespeople trying to push stuff.

This number just called me, and it was a woman with an Indian accent claiming she was from Sky broadband, saying there was a problem with my connection. I found it suspicious because I was actually on my computer when she rang and the internet was fine. Then she handed the call to an Indian guy who insisted I should connect to my laptop. When I told him I’d just logged off and everything was working fine, he abruptly ended the call. Honestly, I guessed it was a scam right away, but my 4-year-old picked up the phone before me!

Normally, I don’t pick up calls from unknown numbers, but this time I did. A woman answered with an accent that sounded Indian or Pakistani and just said “Hello”.
