A few days back, I received a call from 02045772719. My father, who isn't in the best of mental health at the moment, took the call. The only way he could extricate himself was by agreeing to fork out £60 for a six-month insurance coverage, rather than paying a cancellation fee of £89. I decided to ring them back (perhaps not the wisest choice) and ended up chatting with a chap named Steve Evans, who had a noticeable Indian accent. He mentioned that I could expect some paperwork in about 21 days. It was painfully obvious that this was a scam, so I lodged a dispute with my bank to reclaim the money. This morning, my father received yet another call from 0203, which he wisely ignored. Then, "Steve Evans" rang my mobile from 01302713093, pleading with me to cancel the dispute, saying he had a wife and two kids depending on him. I cut the call short. I truly hope this warning helps others steer clear of such tactics.

Got a call from an Indian bloke trying to get me to renew some Sky contract I don’t even have. He went on about all these amazing savings and cheaper deals like I was already signed up or something. When I finally told him I don’t have a direct debit with Sky, he asked if I’m a Mr Norman Wallace - which I’m not. Then he just hung up on me. He did admit he wasn’t actually from Sky. Bit annoying really, but not exactly pushing it hard. Hard to imagine anyone falling for that one nowadays.

I assure you, that is utterly false. They even had the audacity to mention a cancellation fee if I opted not to renew. I made it clear that I wasn’t falling for their tricks and told him to "get lost". Absolutely delighted to have wasted a solid ten minutes of his time!
