I received a call from an individual masquerading as a debt consultant.

I received a rather peculiar phone call from a chap with an unusual accent that seemed rather foreign. It was evident he was phoning from a call centre. He claimed to represent a debt recovery agency and mentioned some supposed outstanding debt of mine. Quite shocking, really! It felt like a right scam!
