Today I got a couple of calls saying there was a £600 transaction done abroad. Both rang from something like Visa Secure, but when I checked the caller ID with '1471', it showed two different numbers. These numbers come from the phone provider, so surely they should be responsible if someone uses them for scams. It’s mad there isn’t a proper way for people to report these numbers to a UK authority that could flag and block them in just a day. If this was in place, phone companies would have to pay fines whenever their numbers get used in fraud.

About an hour back, I got one of those calls with the classic pause, then some recorded message warning me about a supposedly final alert on a charge to my Visa Mastercard. I immediately hit block. It’s obvious it’s a scam since they didn’t even try to confirm who I was or say what company they were from. Makes sense though - a proper scammer wants to stay hidden and anonymous.
