i usually just ignore any calls from unknown numbers. decided to check this one out first tho, best choice ive made. blocked that number straight away after looking it up.

I got a recorded message saying it was from the national crime agency and that my National Insurance number was involved in fraud. Clearly a scam, so I rang the number back. Turns out it's someone's home in Buxton, and scammers have somehow taken over their line. I was told BT can’t do anything about it, which I struggle to believe since they manage all the phone networks in the UK. With everything digital now, it should be much easier to track and block these calls.
