3 yearsI got a call from someone who said it was about an NHS research related to the meds I’m currently on.4 yearsSo, there was this chap on the line who insisted he was from BT, saying my internet connection was lagging due to an overload of users. He offered to assist me in clearing out some IP addresses, but only if I executed certain commands on my device to grant him access. The conversation was a bit of a merry-go-round, as I found myself being shuffled between a woman who had a distinctly Indian accent and her superior, who claimed to be her supervisor from the same London office. Their little facade fell apart as I pretended to misunderstand their directions, which effectively threw a spanner in their works. Everyone's got to have a go at scams, but it seems they wasted their time trying to pull one over on me!BTLondon4 yearsSomebody rang me saying they were from BT, saying my internet was slow cause loads of devices were connected. They wanted me to run a command on my PC so they could “fix” it by removing IPs. I got shuffled between a woman with an Indian accent and a bloke who said he was her manager. Both insisted they were calling from London. I just pretended not to understand and didn’t do what they asked. Eventually, they gave up - guess I wasted their time so they couldn’t try it on someone else!London4 yearstotal scam alert, do not trust this number!4 yearsHe claimed to be calling from EE.EE4 yearsReceived a rather odd call this morning from a number that was quite similar, just ending with 043. The chap on the other end claimed to be from Microsoft. When I mentioned that I don’t own a computer or laptop, I asked him to kindly remove me from their calling list, as I’ve been inundated with calls from others inquiring about my supposedly existing Microsoft device. To my utter disbelief, he snapped at me to "SHUT UP" and insisted I just listen. What an incredibly rude encounter!Microsoft4 yearsGot a call from someone saying they were from PC World or Curry’s, sounded fishy to me. Told them straight up I wasn’t interested and then just ended the call!CurryPC World4 yearsI didn’t pick up since I didn’t know the number. They didn’t leave any voicemail either.4 yearsI received a rather alarming call today from 01297 824065, claiming to be from Microsoft. They even knew my name and home address, which certainly raised my eyebrows! I've never had any previous correspondence with Microsoft nor received a phone call from them. I would have expected any notifications, especially about potential issues, to arrive via email or some digital means. To add to my concerns, I have McAfee security, and the caller insisted that hackers had compromised my laptop. They warned that if I didn’t act immediately, Microsoft would block access to my laptop and any other devices in my household! Their tone was quite calm and seemed reasonable at first, but when they dodged my questions, I grew increasingly sceptical and believed it to be a scam. I took the precaution of checking the phone number using a UK caller ID website, and much to my dismay, the feedback was littered with reports of similar scams.MicrosoftMcAfeeUK4 yearsI've been receiving incessant calls from this number, yet they never leave a voicemail. It’s quite puzzling!4 yearsGot a call earlier saying it was from Vodafone with some 40% discount deal. I asked the guy to confirm a few details about me, which he couldn't do properly. Knew pretty quick it was a scam, but decided to mess with him a bit so he wouldn’t have enough time to trick others. Told him I’d report the number to Vodafone, and he got all defensive, started shouting at me, then yelled "bye" before hanging up. It was definitely a scam call.Vodafone4 yearsjust another annoying spam call!4 yearsGot a call from a woman with an Indian accent on my phone.
