If I catch any muffled voices in the background, I just end the call straight away. If it’s something important, they’ll usually leave a voicemail anyway.

I got a call from a number that said it was UK landline but showed up as an "international" on my phone. It turned out to be a scammer, a woman claiming she was from BT and warning me my internet would be disconnected soon. She asked to get into my laptop to "fix" some settings, which was obviously dodgy. Definitely avoid answering if you get something like this!
