some bloke rang me claiming to be from bt openreach, saying my line had issues. i’d never reported anything and everything seemed fine on my end. he tried to persuade me to let him link a bt server to my laptop so he could do some checks. i thought it sounded risky, so asked for his number to ring back. he said he got it, but insisted it was the only way to find the problem.
