I received a rather alarming message purportedly from HMRC, claiming that I was liable to pay my taxes or face prosecution for not having settled them in the last five years. Now, considering I’ve been self-employed for over a decade and my accountant diligently reviews my financial records every quarter, it was clear to me that this was nothing more than a scam. When they requested my card information, I promptly let them know exactly where they could shove that request!

Claiming to represent HM Revenue and Customs, these callers turned out to be nothing but fraudsters. They left me a dodgy voicemail, urging me to hit 1 to steer clear of some legal trouble. Not falling for that! I've swiftly blocked the number!

They said if I didn’t ring a certain number, I’d face legal trouble. They pretended to be Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. Honestly, this could really scare someone who’s vulnerable!
