He attempted to convince me that my computer was infected with a virus that had crept in unnoticed, and that my antivirus software wouldn’t catch it. He urged me to turn on my computer so he could walk me through some steps. I was instantly on high alert; he couldn’t provide the name of the company he represented. Every time I pressed for specifics, he sidestepped the questions. He didn’t even know what make of computer I owned! I confronted him, stating that he was clearly running a scam, and I had no intention of allowing him access to my computer or sharing any banking or credit card information.
