3 yearsStrange experience the other day. Someone rang up asking for my wife by her first name. I told them she wasn’t home and that they could try her mobile instead. They didn’t ask for the mobile number or even bother to find out who I was or if they could speak to me. I didn’t have caller ID on, so I dialled 1471 to see who called. Weirdly, the first time it told me our own number, not the caller’s. Only after trying a second time did it show the actual number as 01293 409018. No signs of a scam or anything, but that 1471 result was definitely odd.6 yearsGot a call real early, around half past five this morning.10 yearsThis number rang us earlier today (04/03/11, around 12:50 PM), but hung up shortly after. We picked up the receiver and tried dialling 1471, but instead of the familiar tone, we were greeted by a recorded message stating our own phone number. Quite perplexing! After that, we hung up and upon lifting the receiver again, the normal dialing tone returned. We then tried 1471 once more, and the number it provided was 01293 409018. When we attempted to press '3' afterwards, all we got was that annoying unobtainable tone.11 yearsReceived three calls in quick succession over the space of an hour, each one hanging up just before we could answer. It’s quite vexing, to say the least!12 yearsThis number rang us this afternoon (4th March 2011, around 12:50 pm) and then abruptly stopped. When we picked up, we decided to utilise the 1471 service, but instead of the usual dial tone, we were greeted by a recorded message stating our own telephone number! I ended the call and, upon trying again, the familiar dial tone returned. When we redialled 1471, it provided us with this number: 01293 409018. I tried pressing '3' afterwards, but all we got was that annoying unobtainable tone!Submit Your Own Report (01293 409018)
