Got a call on my landline just before 4.30pm from someone saying they worked for a health company and that I’d done a survey about back pain. Thing is, I was abroad when they said I did the survey. The woman was pretty pushy, clearly sounded like she was trying to con people.

This person called saying I answered a survey and mentioned having arthritis, which I never did. I told him he must have the wrong info and asked who exactly was running the survey, but he wouldn't say. Then he kept pushing about other health problems. This is the second time in two days these lot have called. It's just cold calling, probably targeting older people who might be more easy to fool.

This feels way more like a scam than just spam. Don’t ever ring back numbers you don’t know - you could end up in deep trouble. I’d suggest reporting these calls to the police via 'Action Fraud' since it’s probably a phishing scam. Also, if it says it's from Crawley, that’s probably fake - the call could be from absolutely anywhere. Keep in mind that many phone networks only let you block a certain number of calls before the feature stops working properly. Scammers rely on that failing, so watch out.

The caller asked, "Is Mrs X available?" but he got the surname wrong, so I simply said "No". Then he asked, "Alright, can I speak to Mr X then?" and I gave the same answer. His last try was, "Do you want us to contact you again?" Since he never said what company he was from or why he was calling, I just said "No". What a complete newbie!
