Got a call on my phone from someone who didn’t clearly say which firm they were calling from, but she claimed I’d been in a car accident that wasn’t my fault. I was like, “Excuse me?” and she kept asking, “Was that not you?” I told her no, and she said she’d take my number off their list. Half an hour later, I got a text message apparently from HSBCUK saying my account had some sort of restriction because of security issues and included a dodgy-looking link to fix it. Tried to block the number as spam but my phone said it wasn’t a valid number. Bit weird because I don’t even have an HSBC account. This all feels pretty risky and fishy!
