Callers claim your broadband is being misused nearby and ask you to press a button to resolve it. Multiple similar calls have been made recently, often from numbers starting with the same digits. Many who received these calls were not BT customers and did not engage. It appears to be a phishing attempt targeting unsuspecting individuals.

Got a phone call with a recorded message, spoken by a woman with a British accent, claiming to be from BT. She said my internet was being accessed by people nearby and told me to press a key to resolve it. Obviously I didn’t do that, just ended the call and blocked the number straight away. This was the second time this week I’ve had the same call. The previous one also began with 0128 but I’d already blocked that number. FYI, I'm not even signed up with BT.
