When I mentioned that I'm of a more mature age and feeling a bit vulnerable, I expected them to provide some kind of reassurance to confirm it wasn't a scam. Instead, they turned aggressive, warning me that I might be blacklisted if I didn't comply with their demands. Quite shocking, really!

So this person phoned me saying they were from BT and that there was some dodgy stuff happening on my internet. I mentioned I’m quite elderly and wanted some proof or something to show it’s not a scam. Instead of calming me down, they ended up threatening to put me on a blacklist if I didn’t play along. Proper shady behaviour if you ask me.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent saying he was from Carphone Warehouse. I didn’t even bother hearing him out because the way he spoke just felt like a dodgy scam.

Somebody pretending to be from BT rang me up about dodgy stuff happening on my internet. I mentioned I’m older and might not be quick to spot a scam, hoping they’d make me feel safe. Instead, they warned me they’d put me on some kind of blacklist if I didn’t go along with it. Very dodgy behaviour if you ask me.

Got a call from some company called Spark Solutions Ltd through, I think, a phone provider? Their opt-out email was just a gmail address, which seemed a bit dodgy. They rang to offer me a phone upgrade. Just yesterday I got a message from EE about upgrading too, after I asked for a PAC code, so I reckon it's all connected... and this is even though I'm on the TPS list.

They claimed to be from Carphone Warehouse and said O2 had passed them my number, which I really don’t believe. The caller insisted they were ringing from London, but the number actually traces back to Burton on Trent. I’m pretty sure it’s a call centre abroad, despite their insistence on being in London. They even gave me the postcode of Carphone Warehouse’s HQ in North Acton, saying that’s where they were dialing from. Thing is, there are no outgoing calls made from North Acton. When I asked to speak to a manager, the guy on the line didn’t seem to understand GDPR or what a Subject Access Request meant. Definitely fishy.

I had no clue who was ringing or what they needed since I wasn’t waiting for any calls. I usually check the caller ID to decide whether to pick up or not. The number showed a place I’ve never heard of before (Burton-on-Trent), and to top it off, they didn’t bother to leave a voicemail or even say sorry for disturbing me. So honestly, I don’t see why I should waste my time or phone credit trying to get back to them.
