Some bloke rang me up claiming he was with BT Openreach and said there was an issue with my phone line. Thing is, I hadn’t noticed any problems and definitely hadn’t reported anything. He asked if he could hook up a BT server to my laptop to run some checks, which sounded a bit dodgy to me. I told him I wasn’t comfortable with that and asked for his number so I could ring back later. He seemed to get where I was coming from but insisted that was the only way to find the fault.

I’m on TalkTalk, and this number keeps ringing me. They claim it’s the TalkTalk tech team and ask me to press 1, but honestly, I don’t trust it at all.
