Got a call earlier today at about 12:55 from 01282 779290. The bloke on the other end had an accent from the subcontinent and kept jabbering away. When I finally got a word in he says he’s from Benefits UK - total scam! I just hung up straight away. This was the first time I've ever had a ring from this number, which seems to be somewhere in Burnley, Lancashire.

It's ridiculous how these con artists keep ringing non stop and yet nothing really gets done about it. Funny enough, I got fined for going just one mile over the speed limit hundreds of miles away from my place (yeah, that was my mistake) but these lot, who are clearly no better than criminals, just keep on with their scams and no one seems to care. They should be dealt with seriously, not just shrugged off as "scammers". They’re proper criminals and should be punished like that! When will that happen?

I've been getting loads of calls from "Benefits UK" lately. When one rings you up like that, why not turn it into a bit of fun? Just play along and answer their questions with silly replies like "meow meow" or any animal sound you fancy. A mate of mine does this with those accident claim calls and when they ask about his injuries, he says something daft like "Terrible, actually… I've already kicked the bucket!" It's quite funny, plus it gives you a good tale to share over a pint!

I no longer get bothered by annoying calls or idiots because I have a call blocker set up. Only numbers saved in my contacts or those that identify themselves are allowed to ring through. I get a list of every call that tries to get in, and even after a couple months with this phone, these nuisance callers keep trying their luck. Seriously, who’s the fool here?

After picking up the phone, I decided to look up the number online. Strangely, there was complete silence on the other end, and before I could even repeat my greeting, the caller disconnected. I realise it’s likely just another bothersome call, but I was hopeful for a return call from someone I was waiting to hear from. Unfortunately, my BT phone doesn’t have the option to block these unwanted callers.

This number keeps ringing me up almost daily, always looking for someone who doesn’t even live here. I’ve told them loads of times that no such person’s at this address. I was polite at first but now I just tell them bluntly to jog on. I hang up straight away. Then, believe it or not, the bloke calls back and complains that I’m being rude. Well, calling nearly 50 times a week seems way more annoying to me!

Got a call from someone with a strong Indian accent saying he wanted to talk about my life insurance. I told him I don’t actually have one, and he just hung up on me. Classic scam, I’m sure. I stopped him straight away. When he rang me again later, I told him I don’t discuss that sort of stuff over the phone as there’s too many scam calls these days.
