A rather peculiar incident just occurred on my landline. I received a call from a number I didn't recognise, and the chap on the other end claimed I had a mortgage with Nationwide Building Society. His accent was decidedly not local, which made me a bit wary. When I didn't confirm or deny his claims, he inquired about whether I still resided at my address - which he proceeded to recite. I was taken aback and asked him why he needed to know. This seemed to irritate him, as he abruptly said goodbye and hung up. Curiously, he did leave the number on my phone, but when I tried returning the call, I was met with a message stating that the number didn’t exist. Quite strange, wouldn't you say?
