Received a dodgy call on my landline earlier. A robotic voice greeted me with, “Hello, this is British Telecom,” in a rather too-serious tone. It’s clearly yet another scam, given that I don’t even have a BT line; I’m all set up with cable for both my internet and phone. If I happen to pick up on an unfamiliar number that hasn’t been blocked, I typically come across a real person, usually sounding quite possibly from the Far East. I enjoy giving them a fright by claiming they’ve reached Interpol, which tends to send them packing rather quickly! They’ve now been added to my block list, not that it’ll make much difference.
