8 yearsI've just had a rather unsettling encounter with a scam targeting customers of various ISPs. My phone rang, and when I answered, there was this automated message claiming to be from TalkTalk, warning me that my internet would be cut off soon. It then instructed me to press 1 if I wished to speak to an advisor. I, rather foolishly, pressed the number and was met with an awkward silence before being put through to what sounded like a chaotic call centre. A woman on the other end asked how she could assist, but I became increasingly suspicious since she never actually confirmed she was with TalkTalk. Sensing something wasn't right, I promptly hung up.
