Whenever I get a call from a number I don’t know but am a bit interested in, I pick up and just stay silent. Usually, after a second or two, the other end disconnects. If I catch noises or people talking in the background, I just drop the call straight away. If it’s someone legit, they’ll leave a voicemail anyway.

Got a call while I was working and asked the bloke what he wanted. Instead of answering, he just went on to call me an idiot. When I asked him to repeat himself, he actually started spelling out 'idiot'. Proper rude and made me feel a bit unsettled.
