Got a recorded message saying there’s been some strange charges on my Visa/Mastercard - one for £14 from Amazon and another £709 going to Western Union. They told me to press 1 if I didn’t approve these transactions. The weird thing is, the number looked local so I picked up, but it was obviously a dodgy scam.

I picked up the phone since it had a familiar area code. To my surprise, there was a pre-recorded voice informing me about two questionable transactions on my credit card - one for £14 at Amazon and another hefty charge of £709 to Western Union. It instructed me to press 1 if I didn’t recognise these charges. Quite obviously a scam, so I didn’t engage and promptly ended the call.
