I just got a phone call on my home phone from a bloke named Mathew, claiming his company is from Oxfordshire. He was going on about my loft insulation possibly causing dampness and said government rules demand it to be fixed. I told him I’m a council tenant, and then he just hung up on me. Looks like a scam to me, especially since the number had a Bishops Stortford area code. I thought cold calling people on landlines was banned, but this guy obviously didn’t get the memo.

Got a call from some robotic bloke with a posh English accent, saying there’s an issue with the loft insulation I supposedly had fitted (which I definitely haven’t). I can’t help but mess about with these auto calls. From the stuff they asked, I reckon it’s just a scam aimed at older folks, trying to frighten them into paying upfront for an appointment. Proper dodgy lot!!!

Honestly, this is getting ridiculous. Today alone I've been phoned five times and every single time there's no one on the other end when I pick up. Seriously, the government really should step in and force phone providers to make people pay a hefty deposit, like thousands, before they get these numbers. If complaints come up, that deposit could go to a charity. I'm about ready to just unplug my phone altogether.

I got a call from 01279260654 and decided to call back just for a laugh. Had a nice chat with a couple of dodgy folks pretending to be from HMRC. They clearly didn't know anything about me and just took the bogus name and address I gave without a fuss. They sounded quite shocked when I told them I was owed money back from HMRC and was ready to challenge the supposed charges. Since GDPR came in, I think these scam calls have definitely ramped up. It's been non stop recently!

I received a rather alarming recorded message claiming to be from HMRC, threatening legal action against me. However, I am aware that genuine communications from HMRC typically come via written correspondence and not through phone calls. I highly advise against returning the call or adhering to any of their instructions. Do yourself a solid and simply block the number. It’s certainly not worth the hassle!

Got a call from 01279 260654 claiming to be legit. They said I had some tax issues going back four years and asked me to send them something in writing. When I said yes, they told me due to the coronavirus situation they won’t be sending any letters. I did end up giving them my name, DOB and NI number, but felt uneasy about the questions and decided to just hang up. Not too happy about how it all went down.
