Earlier today (27th February 2020), I received a call that was strikingly similar. I entertained the caller for a bit, but midway through, he tweaked his approach, claiming that if my roof wasn’t maintained to the highest standard, the insurance folks wouldn’t honour a payout. I had a feeling that’s a standard clause in any policy, to be honest. I made it clear that I wasn’t interested. It’s blatantly a scam, as others have mentioned before.

I’m situated in the 01279 BT region, and just earlier today (03/02/20) at around noon, I received a rather peculiar phone call. The caller claimed to be from my home insurance provider, stating they were tasked with ensuring that my roof was in good nick, deeming it crucial for risk assessments. They insisted they’d need to conduct a thorough survey of my home-both inside and out, including a peek into the loft. They mentioned that this supposedly complimentary survey and any necessary repairs would be funded by the government, but only for those aged 55 and over. However, when I probed them about which insurance company I was with, they couldn't provide an answer to such a straightforward enquiry. It struck me as an unusual tactic and a fresh type of scam that I've not encountered before. Without hesitation, I decided to hang up.
