I got a call from a man with a strange accent claiming to be from Microsoft, saying there was a problem with my PC. I told him straight up he wasn’t really from Microsoft and was just trying to scam me. When he asked how I knew, I explained that Microsoft wouldn’t ring people like that and that I get these dodgy calls all the time. He was about to reply, but I hung up there and then. Less than half a minute later, my phone buzzed again from the number 01674 677 042. I didn’t pick up, but a quick Google search showed it’s definitely another scam call, probably from the same bloke.

My elderly mum, she’s 89, got a phone call from this number today. We picked up the handset connected to the base, but didn’t actually answer the call. It went straight to her voicemail, and what we heard was a guy speaking some foreign language, sounded Asian. He talked for a solid two or three minutes and we had no clue who he was trying to reach! It was pure nonsense. There was loads of noise in the background, definitely not English. Pretty sure it was a scam, and it really frustrates me that they keep targeting old folks like her with these calls.
